Shipped to Larsen Ford in White Plains New York to be prepped for Hertz “Rent a Racer” duties May 10, 1966, this Shelby GT-350H was painted, like the majority of Hertz cars, black with gold Lemans striping. It was put into service at a Hertz location in New York, NY and once its rental car duties were over, was sold to Kevin Litvin of Wrentham, MA. He would retain the car until just a few years ago, when the second registered owner of the car took possession of it. Recognizing how special a car this was, with such a clean history of ownership, numbers matching Hi-Po engine and in such solid original condition, c-servo automatic transmission, but still showing some age after 3 decades of use, he chose to treat the car to a complete restoration. The car was stripped to the metal and restored from the ground up with a great attention to detail, the end result speaks for itself. From the red oxide primer with proper over spray undercarriage, to the highly detailed engine bay and interior, this car is a show stopper. With this stunning car also being backed by some great original documentation including Shelby invoices, listed in the Shelby registry and hundreds of photos of the restoration, this Shelby is the perfect example for the collector looking for that piece of Hertz Rent-a-Racer history for their collection.
